You should always ask for a copy of current insurance coverage and if the carrier’s insurance is primary or secondary to your own insurance in the event of damage during transport.

With vehicle shipping it can be difficult to provide exact dates. Most companies will provide a window of several days for the pickup or delivery of your vehicle. You may be able to request a “picked up by” or “delivered after” date.Whatever dates are given, be sure to get it in writing.

Most carriers and towing companies prohibit the inclusion of personal items in vehicles being shipped. These items can impact weight limits and may not be covered by insurance.

When shipping a vehicle within the United States, the only paperwork needed is provided by the carrier. You will need to do a visual inspection of the vehicle with the carrier first to document any existing damage and then sign their paperwork.
